About Mira Vista Resort
Nancy and Suzanne

Bare Necessities was recently pleased to tell you of our partnership with and new condominium at Mira Vista Resort in Tucson, Arizona. Having worked, traveled with and known Wayne and Suzanne Schell for over 20 years, it was a natural to see why an investment in anything they were doing would be a win-win for both of our companies. It was clear from the beginning back in the early 1990s when we visited them at their first resort venture, Laguna Del Sol (formerly Rawhide Ranch), that we shared many of the same clientele and we concurred that working together would garner more clients rather than believing we were in competition with one another.

CLOTHES-FREE RELAXATION IS WHAT MIRA VISTA IS ALL ABOUT
Conveniently located just 3 miles off of Interstate 10 in Tucson, Arizona, the approach into Mira Vista is like approaching a desert oasis. Adobe Poolside Frogbuildings dating to the 1800s stand amid a picture perfect desert backdrop of 300 year old blooming saguaro cacti, clear, cloud-free skies and an incredible mountain backdrop that looks as if it was plucked right out of a movie set. Since opening in the 1850s, this property has been an oasis of respite and renewal. From its humble beginnings as a stagecoach stop on the San Francisco - St. Louis line (the original stone bathtub remains intact in the resort's trendy bar), to a popular 1930s dude ranch, to a first class spa, this resort has been used as lodging by outlaws, Indians, weekend cowboys and even movie stars when in the mid-twentieth century the spot was used as a popular backdrop in wild west movie adventures. The original water well that provided refreshment to weary travelers and thirsty starlets alike is now home to one of resorts Jacuzzi tubs! John Wayne slept here. So did Greta Garbo, Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn… and now I can say… so have I... AND SO CAN YOU!

OUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME
Home away from homeMira Vista Resort has since become a sum of all its rich, colorful and historic parts. It is indeed a marvelous haven of respite, relaxation and clothes-freedom. Add in some southwest desert charm, cowboy kitsch, year round warm weather and the experience of this country's most respected and experienced nudist resort owners and what you have is pure magic!

The Casas at Mira Vista Phase One has recently been completed and consists of two story condominiums built strategically around the resort’s current infrastructure and amenities. Each one offers a Mira Vistadifferent view: the magic lights of downtown Tucson twinkling in the distance or the surrounding mountain ranges and painted desert valley with their spectacular sunrises and sunsets. When completed, the entire project will include ten buildings planned so carefully that the traditional privacy fencing of nudist resorts will not be needed, allowing the majestic landscape and inspiring views to remain as they have for thousands of years. There truly is a sacred presence to this land and a grandeur that would be lost to privacy fencing!

Our first thought after seeing the development projections for the property was where do we sign? CactiThe words escaped my lips before I knew it… and I meant every word. Maybe it is true what they say about the ancient souls that reside on the grounds and in the surrounding mountainside. Perhaps I was enchanted by the sacred whispers in the wind - the history of the land and its colorful tales of yore. All I know is that before my second visit to Mira Vista Resort was over, Bare Necessities had selected our very own spot in the Tucson desert. Since that original visit, our unit has been completed and furnished and our dream of a desert home has been realized. Now we want to share that with you!
